What Production Information Is Needed for Robotic Palletizing
Prepare package weight, pallet layout, target output and site information for a practical robotic palletizing discussion.
Define the handled package
A palletizing system handles the actual packaged unit. Cases, bottled water packs and other packages differ in rigidity, surface and stability. Describe package dimensions, weight, picking positions and whether multiple packages are picked together.
Consider the gripper and product together
Payload assessment considers both the handled product and the gripper or other end-of-arm equipment. Product weight alone is insufficient. The picking method also depends on package surfaces, support, orientation and the transfer path.
Describe the pallet pattern and output
Pallet dimensions, layer arrangement, layer count and stacking height affect reach and layout. Output requirements should specify units, packages per pick, incoming flow and pallet exchange. Cycle figures from different operating conditions are not directly interchangeable.
Include the site conditions
Available space, infeed direction, pallet positions, operator access and workcell protection form part of the scope. Low temperatures or other unusual environments require assessment of the selected equipment configuration. A site layout supports discussion of the connection to the existing line.
